This album was constructed by extracting tracks from another idea of making an album for insomniacs that would last an entire day of 24hrs. The idea produced itself in my mind after my friends Laura and Ryan told me that they were experiencing bouts of insomnia and with it consuming new music day and night during their sleepless nights. I imagined them being up in the night, when no one was around, alone in their apartments, reading books, watching random images on the computer, diving deeper and deeper into an internet rabbit-hole, listening to album after album and drinking a bottle of whatever was available in hopes of helping them sleep. I imagined a soundtrack to this awkward journey that might help further the chance of sleep inducement.

At some point I was disillusioned with the project because I later learned that others had done similar versions of what was basically the same thing. I decided that it would be better served as a series in which some of the music became "Ambient Works volume one" and "Ambient works volume two." With the rest of the tracks I decided to add more instruments to them which made them take on a life of their own. While recording these extra instruments, I was thinking about my father and the sadness, anger, resentment and guilt he bore when losing my mother too early in life. He sank into a pool of depression, thus starting his journey of disengaging from the world around him.
